Youth With a Mission is a highly de-centralized global missionary society united by common values and a commitment to complete the Great Commission. All YWAM operating locations have their own local legal boards to whom they are accountable and look to for guidance and direction.
YWAM/Discovery Bay Camp currently has nine board members
Dr. Ron Boehme serves as the secretary treasurer as well as chairman of the board. He has served in Youth With a Mission since 1974, establishing YWAM Port Orchard and the Discovery Bay. He is also the president and director of US Renewal.
T. & D. Larson – involved with YWAM since 1992, they helped to pioneer the ministry at Discovery Bay, serving many years as the directors. Earlier they led YWAM Kings Kids in the area for over a decade, and then pioneered the training schools/programs at our campus. The Larsons have helped to pioneer ministry in many places in Asia as well as providing pastoral care for the field missionaries. Both of them serve on the board.
L. “Bones” Anderson has been involved with YWAM since 1986. He and his wife, Connie, serve as the campus leaders for the Discovery Bay’ campus and as part of the YWAM Discovery Bay leadership team. Additionally, Bones now serves as pastoral care in Asia, also teaching in various YWAM schools throughout the Asia/Pacific region.
Ed Madden served as vice-president of the original Discovery Bay Camp Foundation board and has served on our Discovery Bay board since 2006. He retired from his administrative position with Group Health Cooperative and now lives in South Carolina.
Rick Allen has been involved with Discovery Bay for many years. He and his wife Druci led a YWAM King's Kids team at their church for 14 years, and two of their children did their DTS at Discovery Bay. They serve with Aglow International and are part of a thriving church plant in Redmond WA “Wonder Church.”
Dr. Pete Battjes has served in Christian ministry for many decades, is a YWAMer and a graduate of Regent University and received his doctorate at Newburgh Theological Seminary. They are currently serving Spirit and Truth Fellowship in Oregon.
We are an intergenerational community of young and old, of singles, married couples, and families. We are from different places and different backgrounds but have a common vision and purpose to live out our commitment to God in our daily lives, to make missionaries of all ages through multiple ministries, and to evangelize our community and the nations, particularly Asia. We believe that all of us are part of this vision. Therefore, no position at YWAM Discovery Bay is insignificant or unimportant.
